From watching the news to the mingling at the office, you’ve certainly heard about CBD (cannabidiol) and all of its supposed benefits. CBD oil is one of the most popular ways people use this hemp-derived cannabinoid. You may be wondering how to take advantage of a product that has the potential to truly improve your overall well-being. So, what is CBD oil, what is CBD oil used for, and what does CBD feel like? We’ve got your answers to all of that and more right here.

What is CBD oil?

CBD oil is created by combining hemp-extracted cannabinoids with a carrier agent (commonly MCT oil). You will basically find three types of CBD oil on the market, although there are hundreds of variations of them.

CBD Oil Types

  • CBD Isolate – Just CBD, no other cannabinoids or terpenes.
  • Broad Spectrum CBD – CBD that has been distilled to remove some of the naturally occurring elements, most commonly THC (tetrahydrocannabinol).
  • Full Spectrum CBD – All cannabinoids and terpenes found in hemp (less than 0.3% THC).

In short, CBD isolate is just the isolated CBD suspended in oil. Broad-spectrum CBD contains absolutely no THC but may contain other cannabinoids and terpenes. Finally, full-spectrum CBD oil, like ours, contains all of the natural cannabinoids from the hemp plant and the terpenes, including less than 0.3 percent THC.

Full-spectrum CBD oil is the most popular choice among consumers (and for good reason), as cannabinoids and terpenes function together in the body. In other words, if you only take CBD isolate, the cannabinoid may not work as effectively as full-spectrum oil, which contains over 120 different cannabinoids.

What is CBD oil good for?

CBD is just getting started in the world of therapeutic agents, and there is still a lot we don’t know. However, the research to date has definitely been enlightening, and CBD has been shown to be good for a lot of everyday ailments. CBD can be good for:

  • Inducing a state of relaxation
  • Supporting better sleep
  • Giving your endocannabinoid system (ECS) support
  • Helping with mental clarity and focus
  • Supporting overall wellness and well-being
  • Helping with bodily discomforts

From skin conditions and injuries to problems with sleep and mood, people are turning to CBD oil for so many reasons.

CBD Oil Benefits

The many CBD oil benefits stem from the fact that this primary cannabinoid, CBD, has a number of attractive qualities that are proving to be beneficial for the human body.

While the research is just coming to light and there is so much more to learn, CBD is proving to hold a wealth of benefits.

How to Use CBD Oil

CBD oil can either be placed on your tongue and swallowed or dropped under the tongue for a sublingual dose. In general, sublingual dosing will yield a faster onset of effects; typically within 10 or 15 minutes. To take a sublingual dose:

  1. Measure how much you need in the dropper
  2. Place the dose under your tongue
  3. Hold the fluid in place for about 30 seconds
  4. Swallow

While holding the CBD oil under your tongue, the CBD can be absorbed into your bloodstream.

If you don’t particularly like the flavor of CBD (sometimes has a mild grassy flavor), opt for a flavored version. We recommend our CBD Oil Tincture (cranberry seed oil). Or, you can add your dose to a drink for a more palatable experience.

A Note About CBD Oil Effects

What does taking CBD oil feel like? Everyone can have their own experience with CBD. The general consensus is that CBD oil makes you feel a bit more at ease, possibly more relaxed, and at times a bit more focused. Unlike THC, CBD is non-intoxicating; it will not leave you feeling “high” or in any way unable to function as you normally would.
